Your New Zealand born hosts, Alan and Shirley, have been farming most of their lives, though both have traveled and worked overseas, (like most New Zealanders).

Among their varied interests are family, golf, Indoor Bowls, Bridge, gardening, shepherding, dogs and hens.

Our farm operates smoothly, with Alan handling the day to day stock work and maintenance, although he enjoys  having company.

Shearing takes place twice a year, May and November.  Alan is our shearer and he appreciates having a rousy.

Calf rearing and lambing is in the Springtime.

The hens are Shirley's delight, she enjoys wandering up to the hen houses to let them out to graze in the paddocks, gather eggs, check their feed supply and to give fresh water.
Then in the evening make sure they have all returned for the night and so shut their doors, until the next day.
